I’m a Red Hat Senior Principal Software Engineer working for IBM on messaging and data streaming, with more than 20 years of experience developing software with Java, starting during my university studies and continuing throughout my professional career. Java has been a constant in my work, from enterprise and distributed applications to reactive systems, messaging, streaming, and cloud-native software.

I have extensive experience with Apache Kafka, Kubernetes, cloud-native applications, and IoT platforms. I’m co-founder and one of the maintainers of the Strimzi project, a CNCF incubating project for running Apache Kafka on Kubernetes using operators. Through Strimzi and my work around Kafka, I have contributed to building and evolving large-scale, cloud-native systems and to the Java ecosystem around Apache Kafka.

I’m also an Eclipse Committer for the Eclipse Vert.x, where I contribute to the reactive Java ecosystem, including components providing an Apache Kafka client and MQTT client/server. I’m committer for Eclipse Paho and historical committer for Eclipse Hono as well.

In my previous role, I worked on different integration projects such as an AMQP bridge for Apache Kafka and Spark, and on the EnMasse messaging-as-a-service project to enable the integration with MQTT.

I regularly share my experience with Java, Apache Kafka, Strimzi, reactive programming, messaging, distributed systems, and IoT at numerous national and international conferences, including KubeCon, Devoxx, Voxxed Days, KCDs, Red Hat Summit, DevNation, Codemotion, and Linux Day.

Finally, I am a CNCF ambassador and a former Microsoft MVP across the Embedded, Azure, and Java categories, having held the MVP recognition for 11 years.
